Sebaliknya, penderitaan dapat menjadi bagian dari didikan Bapa yang mengasihi anak-anak-Nya. Seperti orang tua mendidik anak berdasarkan pengertian mereka yang terbatas, demikian juga Allah mendidik umat-Nya, tetapi dengan hikmat yang sempurna dan tujuan yang kekal.<br><br>Kata &#8220;menghajar&#8221; bukan terutama berarti menghukum karena murka, melainkan mendidik, melatih, dan membentuk karakter. Tujuan Allah bukan membuat kita menderita, melainkan membawa kita semakin serupa dengan Kristus dan mengambil bagian dalam kekudusan-Nya. Kekudusan berarti hidup yang dipisahkan bagi Allah, semakin membenci dosa, dan semakin mencerminkan karakter-Nya.<br><br>Sebagai pelayan Tuhan, kita tidak perlu segera mengeluh ketika menghadapi kesukaran, penolakan, atau proses yang berat. Mungkin Allah sedang membentuk kerendahan hati, kesabaran, ketekunan, dan kemurnian hati.
